Stillwater Public School Action
Stillwater Public School Board has developed a policy/practice of permitting boys, who identify as a girl, to use the girl’s restroom. While bathrooms are not specifically referred to in their non-discrimination policy, the board interprets it as applying to bathrooms. This is in contradiction to God’s design for male and female and is offensive to our sons and daughters. Each building has private bathrooms, boys who feel uncomfortable going to the boy’s bathroom, should use the private bathroom, rather than invading the girl’s modesty, decency and safety in their bathroom. Vice versa is true of girls. I think every loving and godly means, by which we can use to express our thoughts, should be used. Here some of those ways: (you don’t have to live in the district to get involved)
1) Sign and circulate the attached petition.
Please contact your pastor and encourage him to circulate the attached petition among your church members. We will need the petitions back by Saturday, April 9, so we may compile them and get them to the school board for the School Board meeting April 12. The petition is attached. Please call or email Pastor John Chaffin, or Dr. Aaron Means by April 9th in order to return the petitions before the next School board meeting.
Return Petitions by April 9th, to:
Pastor John Chaffin
405-762-9272
or
Dr. Aaron Means
918-424-1875
2) File the attached complaint with the School board, and circulate it among your fellow church members for them to file.
Attached is a complaint form that an individual may fill out and file with the School Board. This is the school board’s own form. Please make your fellow church members are aware of this method of responding to the school board. I believe that 1000 individual complaints should carry more weight than 1000 petition signatures. Encourage them to fill out the complaints and return them with the petition by April 9th, or bring them to the school board meeting and turn them in there. Again, it is attached or if you prefer a blank form, it may be downloaded here: http://policy.stillwaterschools.com/view_policy.html?policy=policies/gf-e.pdf
Please return your complaint with the petition by April 9th, or you may give it back in person at the school board meeting.
3) Write letters to the school board:
You could also encourage your congregants to write each of the School Board members requesting that they reverse their policy. Please speak the truth in LOVE. The names and email addresses of each board member can be found on the school board website and are also here:
Camille DeYoung camille.deyong@okstate.edu
Tim Rile triley@stillwaterschools.com
Tanya Massey tmassey@stillwaterschools.com
Melody Wright wrightma@stillwaterschools.com
Marshall Baker mbaker@stillwaterschools.com
4) Speak at the School Board Meeting
The next School Board meeting is April 12 at 6:30. You and those at your church could sign up to speak by filling out the attached form, you may also find it here:
Email the form to:
Annette Jones
Clerk of the Board of Education
314 S. Lewis
Stillwater, OK 74074
405-707-5043
annettejones@stillwaterschools.com
Please direct anyone who responds that, when they respond, they should be loving, pleasant, respectful and firm. Remember that the Scripture says that we are to speak the truth in love. The wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
